2. PLAGE NAUTIQUE

Just 4 kilometres west of Ile Rousse, the stunning Plage de Bodri is a quick and easy drive, less than 10 minutes by car. To get there, turn right off the main T30 onto the road marked Parking Plage and Résidence Rock e Mare. In high season, there’s a small parking fee. From the lot, a footpath heads northeast toward the sea, crossing the railway and skirting the Bodri campsite on your right.
This beach is no secret, and during summer holidaymakers flock to its pretty shores, so arriving early is the best way to find a parking space and enjoy a quieter start to the day. If you’re travelling by train from Calvi or Ile Rousse (https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/), the Bodri station is just 150 meters behind the cove.
4. PLAGE DE GHJUNCHITU
Plage de Ghjunchitu is one of the Balagne region’s most attractive beaches. Located about 5 km southwest of Ile Rousse in Corbara, it stretches for 500 meters between rocky headlands and aromatic maquis scrub. The cove’s soft white sand and translucent turquoise waters create a tropical ambience, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or snorkelling around the rocky promontories that shelter small coves. When the breeze rises, though, gentle ripples turn into truly impressive waves, drawing both surfers and photographers. Calm in shoulder season, Ghjunchitu gets busy in July and August. Plage de Ghjunchitu lies just west of Bodri, separated by a rocky headland and connected to its sister beach by a scenic coastal footpath. To get there, follow the same route as for the Bodri car park. From there, carefully cross the railway line and continue on foot for about 5-10 minutes along the path to reach the sand. Alternatively, you can stay on the T30 road for another 800 meters and turn right at the sign marked Plage Parking, which winds down toward the seafront, leading to the beach’s western car park.
Travellers arriving by train (https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/) should get off at Bodri station and walk roughly 500 meters back toward Ghjunchitu.
5. PLAGE DE LA MARINE DE DAVIA
Plage de la Marine de Davia (also called Plage de Vignola) is a lesser-known cove tucked into a scenic peninsula 6 kilometres west of Ile Rousse. One of three small bays along this protected stretch of coastline, it remains peaceful and uncrowded. Its coarser sand can get occasional seaweed after storms, but the perfectly translucent sea glows in all shades of turquoise and sapphire. Granite promontories shield the beach from wind and currents, offering calm waters perfect for underwater life exploration. If you plan to swim from rocks, pack water shoes for added comfort. There are no facilities here, and both smoking and dogs are prohibited.

From the T30 road, turn right toward Marine de Davia. 50 meters before the Marine de Davia train station, take a sharp right and follow the road northeast for 750 meters, until you reach a small car park overlooking the cove.
If you’re arriving by train (https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/), the beach lies about 950 meters from the station- an easy walk of around 15 minutes.
6. PLAGE DE MANGHJA SACCU
Just a few hundred meters west of Marine de Davia lies Plage de Manghia Saccu, a serene retreat that will suit those seeking solitude and raw coastal beauty. Nestled amid Mediterranean vegetation and rugged granite boulders, this intimate cove boasts striking turquoise water and shallow access. The shoreline is unspoilt with only a few discreet villas hinting at human presence. With no facilities or crowds, the beach is a favourite among locals, who often gather here for quiet seaside picnics on Sunday afternoons. Dogs and smoking are prohibited.

Plage de Manghja Saccu is west of Marine de Davia beach, on the peninsula’s other side. To get there from Ile Rousse, follow the same instructions as for Marine de Davia, but instead of turning right before the train station, continue past the railway crossing and take a right turn after it. From there, it’s only 200 meters to a car park overlooking the cove.
If you travel from Ile Rousse by train (https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/), the cove is only a quick 450-meter walk from the station.
7. PLAGE DE CALA DI FURNELLU
Plage de la Cala di Furnellu (also called Plage d’Acqua Salge) is the largest of the three coves on the Davia peninsula. Maquis-covered headlands protect its turquoise semicircle, forming a natural pool perfect for swimming. The seabed slopes gently, but watch out for underwater rocks when exploring colourful marine life. With no facilities or lifeguard, Cala di Furnellu remains tranquil and intimate, staying uncrowded even in peak season. Evenings here are charming, bringing a romantic vibe with front-row seats for stunning Mediterranean sunsets. Neither dogs nor smoking is allowed.

The last of three picturesque coves dotting the peninsula, Cala di Furnellu, is reached from Ile Rousse via the same access road. Once you reach the Marine de Davia train station, continue southwest to a car park located behind the beach.
Train travellers (https://cf-corse.corsica/horaires/) should disembark at the Marine de Davia station, from where it’s a short 400-meter walk to the seafront.
8. PLAGE DE PALUMBARE
Just a few kilometres east of Ile Rousse lie the secluded coves of Pointe de Palumbare- a collection of rocky inlets washed by dazzling turquoise water. Wild and wonderfully clear, the coves are a dream for snorkellers eager to explore Corsica’s underwater life. The sea entry is rugged and rocky, so water shoes are highly recommended, but the crystalline sea and superb views of the town more than make up for the lack of comfort. A bit further into the sea, rocks give way, revealing soft white sand that imparts an intensely blue tint to the surrounding water.
Limited parking keeps Plage de Palumbare serene and uncrowded- pack a picnic, book, and snorkel gear for pure Mediterranean relaxation. Tricky access makes it unsuitable for young kids. Skip swimming in bad weather or windy conditions.

To reach the rocky coves of Plage de Palumbare from the centre of Ile Rousse, follow the T30 road east for about 3 kilometres. Park in the roadside bay just above the beach. Several footpaths lead down to the sea. Parking spaces are limited, so during peak season, arrive early to secure a spot. Be cautious on the busy T30, as it’s the main route through the Balagne region.
9. PLAGE DE LOZARI
Plage de Lozari is one of the largest beaches in the Balagne region. Just a 10‑minute drive east of Ile Rousse, it curves for 1.5 kilometres along a scenic bay bordered by verdant rolling hills. The northern side adjoins a few low-key holiday residences, while the southern end remains quieter, granting plenty of space even in peak season.
Its broad, gold sands and crystalline turquoise waters make it a firm favourite for families and water‑sport enthusiasts. In summer, the In Terra Corsa centre provides paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, and even Hawaiian canoes. A couple of relaxed restaurants sit just behind the beach, with shops and cafés nearby, on a roundabout at the cove’s entry.
Though lifeguarded in summer, swimmers should stay away when westerly winds form large waves. For panoramic views, hike up a path at the bay’s west end to the Genoese Tower of Lozari overlooking this magnificent beach.

ACCESS AND PARKING
Lozzari Beach is accessed from the main T30 road running east from Ile Rousse. Behind the bay are two large, free car parks where you can leave your vehicle. Both are unpaved and may get dusty with heavy tourist traffic. The central entrance (signposted for watersports and a restaurant) is the most frequented. From there, a short, well-maintained path leads to the sea.
If you prefer a more peaceful ambience, you can also pick the westernmost entry closer to Ile Rousse. On the T30 road bend, turn towards the waterfront and the La Payote restaurant. The path running to the sea crosses the Reginu River via a wooden bridge.
10. PLAGE DE L’OSTRICONI
Plage de l’Ostriconi is one of the island’s wildest and most photogenic beaches- a raw, elemental place revealing pure Corsica in its most natural form. If you love nature and seek peace in epic scenery, this is your spot.
The bay stretches 700 meters at the Ostriconi River delta, right on the western edge of Desert des Agriates. Its silver dunes and crystalline waters create a luminous contrast against the desert’s red hills, a spectacular seascape that feels remote and miles from civilisation. The sea is perfect for swimming and snorkelling on calm days, but avoid going in when strong winds blow- waves swell on the shallow seabed, hitting the shore with an imposing force.
Ostriconi also marks the starting point of the coastal trail Sentier du Littoral des Agriates, which connects to the legendary beaches of Saleccia and Lotu. For a quick taste of the wild beauty, head east along the path where rocky chaos drops right into the sparkling sea. In summer, a lifeguard surveys the shores, and a small shack at the beach entrance provides drinks. Dogs are welcome.
